Where do fitness goals start? With the need for more strength? Endurance? Most of the time, it starts with the desire to have abs. It doesn’t have to be a six-pack right now, or soon. But, at the very least, something should be lining your abs to make you look a little bit more beach-worthy. That’s where a lot of us start our fitness journeys, and that’s okay. There is definitely nothing wrong in wanting to look better, especially when it makes us healthier at the same time.
If that is your goal, you have stumbled upon the right guide. That’s because in this four part series, we are going to discuss the entire journey of getting that six-pack you’ve always dreamed of! We are going to discuss different diets, abs exercise equipment, workout programs, and hacks that will help you achieve your abs goals.
Here in PART 1, we are going to start by discussing motivation and diet.
The Ultimate Secret...It Is All In Your Mind
Are you ready? And we don’t just mean in reading this guide. Are you really ready to commit to your abs goals? That’s because, before the hacks, the diets, and the workouts, the ultimate secret to getting those abs is in your mind.
Are you mentally prepared for this? Do you have the discipline? Are you willing to commit to this fitness project, even during those days that you’re not feeling very well, those times when you are most demotivated, and those hours when you feel you’re not really making any progress and on the verge of quitting?
If so, then we don’t see any reason for you not to succeed. In fact, we can already see your beach bod abs slowly sculpting and showing through. So let’s get started!
Absolutely Helpful Diets
Before anything else, let us just mention that this guide is going to rely on two things in order to achieve sculpted abs: diet and exercise. Both will come from dedication and hard work. Hence, if you’re looking for a miracle overnight solution, well, you won’t find it here.
If you do find those “miracles” elsewhere, though, please take caution before trying anything unhealthy, especially since it involves your body. To drink anything or eat anything, or worse, sign up for any “special treatments” without proper medical advice is not wise. Stick to using trusted, proven ab machines, tools, and equipment. You can find some advice about that here, if you want.
Now that that’s out of the way, let us start discussing the different helpful diets you can take while on your abs journey. Next, we are going to feature three diets: one diet to help your body get ready for the workouts ahead, another one to help you during your ab-related workouts, and finally, a diet that can help you maintain your abs.
The Diet to Get Your Body Ready
We are not going to go all-out with a really strict diet just yet since you are simply preparing your body first. Switching to a really rigid diet when you’re coming from regular unhealthy eating habits, after all, is impossible to maintain. You’ll wear yourself out fast.
Thus, start by changing small things in your diet that will also help your body prepare for the upcoming workouts. Switch those chips with almonds, which are rich with omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E for energy and stronger bones. You can munch on apples too. It’s true that an apple a day keeps the doctors away because it is a superfood full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It will also strengthen your immune system—something you’ll need on your abs journey because you don’t want to get sick along the way!
Bananas are a favorite of fitness buffs too. Why? Well, because they are actually almost the equivalent of energy drinks, that’s why! Bananas don’t just help you increase in strength but in stamina as well.
You might be sensing a pattern here already. The food choices that we are sharing with you are all packed with stamina in order to give you a lot of endurance for the long workouts ahead.
The Diet to Help You on Your Journey
By now, we hope that you have started healthy changes in your diet. This means that you are already craving less of your unhealthy food choices, such as those packed with a lot of fat and sugar. If that’s the case, then you will be pleased to learn that the next diet will prove to be a breeze.
The first thing you need to keep in mind is to keep the protein coming. Protein is the foundation of your muscles, which includes your abs. Next, learn your required daily calorie intake. Stick with that, and then gradually lessen it in order to force your body to burn your energy reserves. Eat small but frequent meals, all while keeping those calories in check by snacking smart. Consume healthy kinds of fats to serve as your body’s fuel.
Finally, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Since you’ll be doing a lot of exercises, you will also be sweating a lot, and thus, would need more water. Keeping a water log on your fitness journal can help you keep track if you’re keeping your body well-hydrated.
The Diet to Stick to For Life
Now you’ve got the abs you’ve always wanted. Congratulations! By now, you should have found the groove of eating healthily as well. You now know how much to eat, what to eat, and when to eat. Hence, let us leave you with a short list of the food choices you should to avoid from now on if you want to keep those abs for life:
1. Ice Cream – Ice cream is overflowing with sugar, which, of course, can lead to weight gain and even diabetes! Why is this so? When the body consumes high levels of sugar, it also releases high levels of insulin to control it. Insulin would then make it more difficult for the body to burn fat. And, of course, let’s not forget that the calorie level of ice cream is pretty high too.
2. Popcorn – Another food to avoid if you want to keep those abs is popcorn. Microwaveable popcorn, especially, is dripping with harmful chemicals that do not only lead to weight gain but other more serious health problems as well, such as cancer and heart disease.
3. Cookies – Guess what else can cause high levels of insulin due to its ridiculous sugar content? That’s right; cookies! Cookies that have off-the-chart levels of calories should definitely be avoided!
4. Soda – Oh, man, these are sugar and calories in liquid form. If you think cookies are bad enough, try and measure the sugar and calorie content of a glass of your favorite soda. And, if we’re being truly honest, we all know we don’t just drink one glass…
5. Chips – Finally, we have chips. Chips are not only problematic in their salt content. That’s because they are cooked at high temperatures, which trigger the release of carcinogens. These can cause other health ailments to develop as well, all while keeping you from burning fat successfully.
We understand that a lot of these food choices we have listed down are delicious, and it’s difficult to live without some—if not all—of them. But, as what we have mentioned above, getting a six-pack is a serious commitment.
The Next Step
